A symposium on advancing cancer vaccines at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center on October 1 will convene “national leaders in vaccine design and expert immune-oncologists.”

The event, hosted by the Stuart and Molly Sloan Precision Oncology Institute, is from 8 am to 3:20 pm at the Pelton Auditorium at the Hutch, and will be followed by a reception. It is open to the public and free of charge. Please register here to attend or learn more.

“This symposium comes at an exciting time in precision medicine,” said Eric Collisson, M.D., Director of the Institute’s Translational Integration, and a Professor of Human Biology Division at the Hutch. “The ability to craft vaccines based on patients’ tumors’ genomes is colliding with innovative delivery approaches to maximize immune response. We’re honored to host national leaders in vaccine design alongside expert immune-oncologists evaluating these agents in clinical trials.”

Among the presenters is Nora Disis, M.D., Director of the Cancer Vaccine Institute at the University of Washington. Disis is a recognized expert in the immunology and immunotherapy of breast and ovarian cancers.

The symposium is divided into three sessions:

  • Personalized Cancer Vaccines Strategies: Preclinical and Clinical Studies
  • Targets for Cancer Vaccine Development
  • Understanding and Enhancing Host Responses to Vaccines and Antigens
